Anne of Green Gables by L.M. Montgomery

(A cutout style cover for Anne of Green Gables by LM Montgomery)

I'd always heard about these but never picked up and read them, I was a fantasy and sci-fi obsessed child and rarely read these types of books as a kid. Adults however, seemed to think that I had some personality similarities to Anne, and reading this aloud with my wife... I tend to agree. I also ~love~ Anne, and while we've only read most of the first book, I'm excited to read more of these books later! (Status: Currently reading: 5/5)

The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes by Suzanne Collins

On a roll this week with reading, and in a fuss over Collin's newest book! This isn't in my bookshelf, but I borrowed it from CloudLibrary. I had to, in fact, I had to before I even read Mockingjay. A book that delves into the history of President Snow? Absolutely! And let me tell you, I could hardly put it aside. It's a fascinating read, and an insight into the mind of the man in charge. I would love to know more! Complete. 5/5

Catching Fire by Suzanne Collins

The excellent follow up to Collin's first book, The Hunger Games. Things seem all right after the first book, and even the Quarter Quell doesn't seem *too* alarming, it's someone else after all. But things aren't as they seem in this shocking continuation. Did President Snow plan theme of this year's QQ or was it really written 75 years ago? Completed. 5/5

Coraline by Neil Gaiman

I've been a huge fan of Neil Gaiman ever since my wife (then girlfriend) bought me a copy of American Gods as a gift, and I read it cover to cover in a week. Since then, I've read a fair number of his books, but never this one. I've even seen the film, which I recommend. This book is wonderfully creepy and lively, and is, as always, a masterpiece. Completed. 5/5

The Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins

I first read this around the time the movie was coming out, and it's definitely a page turner! While it might be a tough read for some, due to the (somewhat) graphic content, it's character driven and I'm always a big fan of those kinds of novels. A deep (and alarming) look into what could happen if things went just a little sideways. Warning: contains children killing children. Completed. 5/5

All Tied Up - Reese Morrison (erotica)

Let me preface this with the statement I do not read a lot of erotica. I write my own, I read my wife's. Most erotica is so-so at best. A lot of it is terrible. Or maybe I've just been very unfortunate. However! This book is an absolute blessing. Two of the three protagonists are non-binary! (Representation ho! This delights me, as a non-binary person). One of the protagonists is almost 50! There is a character with a prosthetic leg who is loved and cherished! This book is an absolute delight. I love Neil, (the character pictured on the cover), and if you love big shy guys, this book is for you. If not, you may still love the other main characters. Everything is portrayed smartly and realistically. It's not super slow-burn, but frankly, I can't give a damn. The characters are vibrant, vivid, and wonderful. Kinks are portrayed sensibly. AMAB characters use PrEP, use condoms, consent abounds, no one is shamed for safewords, and there is, in fact, lube. Be still my heart! I will gladly read more Reese Morrison novels. Find this lovely book on Amazon Kindle for $5  An enthusiastic 5/5

The Black Swan - Mercedes Lackey

Familiar with the tale of The Black Swan, or Swan Lake? This book might be similar, but it strays rather far from the original story, while maintaining a lot of the original elements of the tale. Mercedes Lackey, as always, is a vivid and brilliant storyteller. I love retellings of stories, and of fairytales, and this one does not disappoint. I've read it many times over the years and still love it. Complete. 5/5
